Brochure Websites
A brochure website is a static website, named after a print brochure. It’s common to build these on Content Managagement Systems like WordPress.
Brochure? What does that mean?
Brochure web sites are ideal for small web sites where the information in the brochure won’t change very often and no client interaction is involved, just like a print brochure. These websites basically require a set up and then creation of pages with content and media.
Can I change it myself?
Unless requested otherwise we build our brochure websites using WordPress. This is a CMS (Content Management System) and you can change pretty much everything on the website.
What will it look like?
There are literally thousands of pre-designed themes available for WordPress, this is one of the major advantages of the system. The Divi Page Builder that I use has a range of themes that I include in the cost of a web site but you can choose themes from other vendors – this usually incurs an extra cost to purchase. I’ll work with you to find a web site theme that suits your business.
How do I change the website.
It can be a bit of a learning curve but I use the DIVI page builder on WordPress websites when possible. This is a WYSISYG (What You See is What You Get) editor which means you can change the website in real time without any coding. I believe it’s the easiest page builder to use. Changing headers and footers can be a little tricky but most everyday maintenance is easy.
How do I learn?
I’ll sit down with the IT person in your company and spend a couple of hours going through how to add and edit pages. This will instil the basics of the system and there are tons of tutorials on the web.
What if I want to upgrade?
That’s fine. Unless you’re building a huge global web site or particularly niche web site WordPress can handle most applications using plugins.
The Cost
Basic Costs
A basic brochure website with up to 6 standard pages will cost about €1,000 including domain name registration and hosting for one year, a selected theme from the Divi Library and lifetime updates for the Divi engine.
Extra Costs
None for the first year. Domain registration and hosting are paid annually with one year included in the initial website cost. Themes in the Divi catalog are also included free of charge but any paid themes not in the catalog will incur the cost of the theme. Brochure websites don’t usually have any paid plugins.
Is there a cost for content?
I design websites for all business sectors and as such I can’t create descriptions and information about a particular business, this will need to be provided by the customer. Other costs are photos and videos, I can’t recommend using professtional media strongly enough, badly taken photos or video will do more harm than good. You can employ the services of a photographer, use images provided by your suppliers or use stock images.
