Bespoke Websites

Most websites can be built with content management systems like WordPress, Joomla or Prestashop. Sometimes they just don’t offer what you need – it’s time to have a website written just for you.

Why Bespoke?

Bespoke programming is usually only required when you can’t get what you want from the popular CMS like WordPress or if your website is so big you’ll need to control the administration. Considerably more expensive than the content managed options but offers complete control over every aspect of the web site and the exact functionality required.

What type of website?

Pretty much any type of website you want – I’ve been coding websites since 2000 and can write good old vanilla HTML, CSS, Javascript .NET and SQL. I’ve written booking websites for holiday companies, training classes and adventure centres, tax calculation websites and fun kids puzzle websites. I even wrote my own CMS website builder back when WordPress wasn’t very good. All of the worlds largest websites are bespoke, from Microsoft and Apple to Nike and most government websites.

What do I need?

It’s always a great start if the client knows exactly what they want from their website. I’ll try to find the most cost-effective option and use WordPress or similar if possible. If not I’ll draw up an outline of the web site and base a quote on this when accepted.

How do I learn?

The backend administration of a bespoke website is unique to the website. I’ll keep it a simple as I can to navigate and use but for very complex websites a complex admin is unavoidable. We’ll be in touch through the development and learn how to create the administration using your input. At this stage the client shouild have a good idea of how the administration works and I offer detailed tuition with each site.

The Cost

Basic Costs

This really is a case of how long is a piece of string. It basically comes down to how long it takes to build. I could build a simple page that takes input and returns it to the screen for less than €300 but most of these sites would start at about €3,000.

Extra Costs

As everything is included in the design of the web site the only extras are domain registration and hosting. Domain registration and hosting are paid annually with one  year included in the initial website cost. Themes in the Divi catalog are also included free of charge but any paid themes not in the catalog will incur the cost of the theme. Brochure websites don’t usually have any paid plugins.
